Lee
Lee Roy Selmon has a history that combines family scholarship football with volunteering for the community. The first is his familial. Lucious Selmon was the father of Jessie Selmon. The family raised nine kids on a Eufala farm. Two, football. He is among the three brothers that played for Oklahoma. Three of them made All-America. Lucious Jr. Dewey, Lee Roy, and Lucious Jr. Dewey started the 1973 season. Lee Roy received the Outland and Lombardi Awards for being the best lineman of the USA. For three seasons as the team's starter, Oklahoma finished 32-1-1 and won two national championships. Selmon was given a second scholarship in 1975 and selected as a National Football Foundation Student-Athlete. Selmon is a graduate of the University of Michigan with a degree in educational studies. Lee Roy dedicated ten volunteer time per week throughout his time in college. Following graduation Lee Roy moved to Tampa where he spent nine years playing for Tampa's Buccaneers. Three times, he was named All-Pro. Then he began his business career. In 1988, he was an Account Relations Officer for Tampa's First Florida Bank and worked in these organizations: Special Olympics Easter Seals Baptist Church Ronald McDonald House United Negro College Fund South Florida Institute as a member of the Black Life Hall of Fame Bowl Committee. There's no surprise that the Junior Chamber of Commerce designated Lee Roy as among the most prominent young men across the nation. As a student, Lee Roy was 6-2 and weighs a little over 256 lbs. He coached his university team in 1975. In 1993, he became the as associate director at the University of South Florida. He was inducted into the College Football Hall of Fame in 1988. He was also named to the GTE Academic All-America Hall of Fame in 1994, and then the Pro Football Hall of Fame in 1995. In 1989 the Oklahoma City Chapter National Football Foundation presented their Distinguished American Award Mr. Lucious Sr. Henry Bellmon was the Oklahoma Governor that presented the award.
